Maya Israni leads the United States Digital Service (USDS) team at the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service. Her team is working to improve the service delivery of nutrition safety net programs, including WIC and SNAP, and partnering with other USDS teams and agencies to contribute to the federal strategy to modernize the United States’ social safety net. Prior to USDS, Maya was a senior software engineer on Facebook’s integrity and privacy teams where she led the development of internal platforms used to support privacy, civic integrity, counterterrorism, and child safety efforts. She graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Computer Science with a focus on Human Computer Interaction. Beyond civic technology, Maya’s interests include contemporary art and female R&B music.
