Amahra Spence
Co-founder, Creative Director, MAIA

Amahra Spence works for liberation, exploring transformation through systems, strategy, governance and spaces. As Founding Director of MAIA (2013) and Organiser of The Black Land & Spatial Justice Project (2020), Amahra brings a critical analysis of systemic injustice and power, committing to infrastructure building, resource redistribution and platforming radical imagination.

Whether consulting, working in close partnership or leading projects across cultural, public or Built environment sectors, her work encourages the collaborative dreaming, designing and building of radical, civic infrastructure for community vision, wellness, self-determination and joy. In all aspects of her work, Amahra contends with Black Imagination(s) as a framework and the starting point for change.
