Impactful Service Design: Getting Things Done in Complex Organizations

2-day virtual workshop
December 12-13, 2024, 8:00am-12:00pm ET

Working on potentially impactful services in complex organizations can push service designers to the limits of their practice. It demands collaboration across teams in an environment with low understanding and capacity for design.

This workshop takes you through tried and tested approaches for navigating organizational complexity by orienting around service outcomes and performance measures. You’ll learn how services can support a common language across teams and up the chain, linking delivery to impact.

We’ll explore models of organizational change to help you more effectively use your existing toolkit to influence and clarify. Drawing on real-world examples in the public and social sectors, you will leave with actionable strategies for impact in a complex system, while preserving your wellbeing as a change agent.

Target audience

  • Have to work with across agendas and disciplines to be effective
  • Find that traditional design best practices lack traction in their work environment
  • Spend too much energy championing the value of their role and discipline
  • Understand that their role increasingly is one of organizational change
