Independent UX Leader, Facilitator, Visual Thinker
Conference Sketchnoter
MJ Broadbent is an Oakland-based design consultant who enjoys taming complexity with elegant, user-centered solutions. Leveraging a career background in graphic design and user experience design, she specializes in helping people visualize information in real time through graphic facilitation and real-time scribing (known as graphic recording and sketchnoting). She uses visuals to facilitate meetings for product and service organizations that range from executive briefings to cross-functional strategic planning to user research-related storytelling.
MJ’s expertise and design leadership has benefited organizations including Apple, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, College Board, GE, Google, HPE, Johnson & Johnson, Oracle, Pfizer, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Standard & Poor’s, and the United Nations.
She holds a B.S. in Graphic Design from the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP College and is a sketching evangelist: she coaches people everywhere through instructional workshops of her own design to “see their ideas” using hand-drawn communication. She is a member of the International Forum of Visual Practitioners (IFVP) and a director emeritus of the Interaction Design Association (IxDA).
