2026 Advancing Research Conference: Call for Proposals
The seventh Advancing Research conference is coming up (March 10-11, 2026, virtual), and there may be a place for you on the program!
We’re looking for case studies and other great stories or demonstrations that fit one of these themes:
- Day 1—Advancing the Work (if not the Role)
Between democratization, AI tooling, and layoffs, who (or what) does the actual work of UXR has changed dramatically of late. Experienced UXR professionals find themselves practicing less, and coaching, guiding, teaching, and partnering more than ever before. What does it mean to transition from research doer to research enabler? We’re looking for case studies that demonstrate how UX researchers are making this career pivot while ensuring that the research itself stays true to our shared principles of quality, ethics, and trustworthiness. - Day 2—Advancing Research Tools and Methods
While the basics of UXR methodology are stable, the tools and expertise we use to achieve them are changing radically. New technologies make it possible for researchers and PWDR (people who do research) alike to achieve deeper insights and at a greater scale than ever before—often with a lower spend. We’re also finding ways to deepen our expertise in ways that have nothing to do with technology. We’re seeking case studies that show how people tackling UX research—professionals and PWDR—are achieving what was once unimaginable using state-of-the-art tools, approaches, and expertise.
We’re looking for four case studies per day. Each case study will run 20-25 minutes. Apply below; you’ll have the opportunity to suggest the theme most appropriate for your submission.
If selected, we’ll work collaboratively and iteratively with you through a supportive, three-month long preparation process to help you develop your presentation. Important note: This is an unusually time-intensive, iterative, collaborative process. with important milestones, deadlines and expectations. You will be expected to participate in 3-4 conference calls, submit multiple versions of your talk, receive and incorporate feedback. You’ll also be counted on to provide feedback to other speakers. This level of effort and support will ensure you give perhaps the best presentation of your career—and advance the practice of UX research in the process. Please be sure you can meet these commitments before applying.
The submission deadline is EOD Sunday, November 2, 2025; please contact [email protected] with any questions.
