Like many user experience folk, Lou started somewhere (library science), made his way somewhere else (information architecture), and has ended up in an entirely different place (publishing). Lou spent most of his career in information architecture consulting, first as founder of Argus Associates and later as an independent consultant. He co-founded the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20141124210628\/http:\/\/iainstitute.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Information Architecture Institute<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20141124210628\/http:\/\/iasummit.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IA Summit<\/a>, the user experience network.
