A career path to DesignOps can come from various walks of professional life. There isn’t a straight line from design practitioner to design ops manager. During this session we’ll be speaking with Peter Merholz, co-author of Org Design for Design Orgs, to explore what skills, backgrounds, and mindsets make for strong DesignOps managers. And what exceptions there might be to the rule.
About our guest:
Peter Merholz has worked at the intersection of design, technology, and humans for over 25 years. He co-founded Adaptive Path, the premier user experience consultancy, acquired by Capital One in 2014.
In 2016 he co-wrote Org Design for Design Orgs, still the premier book on building in-house design teams.
Now, as an independent design organization management consultant, Peter helps design teams enhance their effectiveness across a range of crucial activities: recruiting and hiring; organizational planning; career architectures and paths; robust definitions of quality; establishing new practices. Peter’s clients include Wells Fargo, The New York Times, Roblox, Ceridian, and JP Morgan Chase.
After the call, you’ll be added to our free DesignOps Community and receive the recording.
