As I sit here working on the chapter on Process (not usually the most exciting chapter in a book like this), I have to say I’m getting more and more excited by the things rolling out onto the page. In addition to signaling that I’m almost finished with the first draft, I’m finding the ability to align frameworks and strategies with the phases of development in a way I hadn’t even considered before. I’m a big fan of maps and models and I had never considered that this book would be anything like a recipe book for sustainability. However, I’m finding the concepts weaving together in a mutually supportive way that should be clear for designers and other developers to see and digest.
It’s similar to the summary page I prepared for the Digging Deeper seminar help in San Francisco last week by the local chapter of the IDSA.OK, I guess I should post this since I’m referring to it. This version is like an overview of the book itself. However, what I’m finding while writing the chapter on Process is that there’s even more integration between these elements than I saw just three weeks ago when I prepared this hand-out.
What about you? Any thoughts on how sustainability impacts the development process?

Redesigning websites for sustainability at Harvard, we’re noticing that sustainable building practices make for good web design: Integrated design, a strong planning stage, and acknowledging the life cycle changes/costs of the site.
I’m looking forward to the book, and plan to share it with colleagues and mentors alike.
