Join us in celebrating Global Accessibility Awareness Day

Global Accessibility Awareness Day officially begins at 8pm EST on May 15, 2014. The first GAAD was in 2012, and was inspired by Joe Devon’s challenge to mainstream accessibility. He called for “a day of the year where web developers across the globe try to raise awareness and know-how on making sites accessible.”

While GAAD continues to be an awareness-raising event, this year it has taken on a celebratory tone. There has been real progress in the last years, as reflected by the number and diversity of GAAD events—in-person and virtual. People are talking about and engaging with accessibility around the globe. It’s definitely an exciting time to be involved with accessibility.

This year’s GAAD coincides with UXPA Boston, and Whitney will be presenting on Personas for Accessible UX. I will be presenting on Involving People with Disabilities in UX Research as part of Inclusive Design 24, a 24-hour online GAAD celebration hosted by The Paciello Group and Adobe.
